About Dr. Sharon Thomas-Parker

Over the past 19 years Dr. Sharon Thomas-Parker has worked with Cultural Care Au Pair in the Maryland/Washington DC areas.  Initially starting as a host family (Sharon is a mother of twins, Danielle & Derek, Jr.) with a group of 4 au pairs in 1991. Sharon’s family hosted au pairs for over 10 years from France, Switzerland, England, Czech Republic and a multitude of other countries.  Her family has had the opportunity to travel abroad to visit the homes of several of their former au pairs in France, Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark and Germany.

Initially Sharon’s mission was to spread the word to American families in the Baltimore area that if they wanted flexible, affordable childcare then they should host an au pair.  The momentum quickly grew and the number of au pairs in Baltimore soared to over 100 in just a few short years.  In 2007, Sharon was one of ten au pair coordinators inducted into the Golden Heart League, an elite group of Local Childcare Coordinators who exhibited the highest of standards in the areas of service, sales and compliance. In 2008 Sharon was one of eighteen Local Childcare Coordinators from across the country to again be honored as a member of the Cultural Care Golden Heart League (GHL). In 2009 Sharon was one of twenty-eight LCC’s to be honored and attend an international summit in Ireland to celebrate her success with Cultural Care Au Pair.  In 2010 Sharon was one of eleven LCC’s to be inducted into GHL and will attend an Executive Retreat in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

Sharon holds a Doctorate in Higher Education Administration, a Master’s in Counseling and a Bachelor’s in Psychology. In addition to her extensive au pair placement experience she has developed a niche for working with parents of multiples, minority families, single parents and several other affinity groups.  Sharon’s reach has gone beyond the Maryland/DC area; she now works with families from across the nation looking to host au pairs and would welcome the opportunity to assist your family in finding a wonderful au pair.  She currently has a wonderful group of host families and au pairs that she takes great pride in supporting!
